Ghanaian sensational and rising star Mohammed Ismail Sherif, known by his stage name Black Sherif, has emerged as the Ghanaian with the highest stream of an album on Spotify with 80 million.

“The Villain I Never Was” happens to be his first album but has surpassed a lot of albums released by other mainstream artistes who have been in the industry for years.

The album was adjudged the album of the year at the 24th edition of the  Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Earlier in the month of its release, the Konongo Zongo star made his debut on the prestigious Billboard at No. 12 on the World Albums Chart. The album joined the likes of Stonebwoy’s “Epistle of Mama” and Shatta Wale’s “Reign” which were the only Ghanaian albums to make it to the Billboard.

A week after its release, the album hit 100 million streams on Boomplay and currently has over 300 million streams on the platform.

Not long after its release on October 6, 2022, it emerged as the No. 8 streamed album in Nigeria’s weekly top albums chart on Spotify.

It surpassed Wizkid’s Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition, which was the longest charting album on the platform for 34 consecutive weeks.

Three songs from the album won awards at the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Kwaku The Traveler won the Most Popular Song of the Year award and Hip Hop Song of the Year, and Konongo Zongo was also named the best video of the year.

Other tracks on the album include Second Sermon, We Up, 45, Oh Paradise, Sad Boys Don’t Fold,Konongo Zongo, Kwaku the Traveler, etc.

When the album was  released, he tweeted

“It took me everything to give life to this body. The one thing in my life that I gave everything up for.
There is life in this body, I hope it treats you good and speaks to you like I want it to. My debut album, “The Villain I Never Was”.
Available on all stores on 06-10-2022.”

Blacko has become the new Ghanaian sensation after he came into the limelight from hustles in Konongo Zongo in 2021 with his banger first sermon making headway.
