Lawyers for New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, have filed a notice to initiate plea negotiations regarding charges of fraud and financial loss involving GH¢30 million at the Ghana Exim Bank.

According to information exclusively available to The1957News, Wontumi requested the negotiations in a letter to the Attorney General through his lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, on June 5, 2026.

The Attorney General’s Office on June 11, 2026, filed the request by Wontumi’s lawyers at the Accra High.

Chairman Wontumi, Thomas Antwi-Boasiako (at large), and his company, Wontumi Farms Limited, are facing charges by the state over the alleged GH¢30 million fraud and financial loss to the Ghana Export-Import Bank.

He has pleaded not guilty to four counts of defrauding by false pretences, forgery, money laundering, and intentionally causing financial loss.
