The death toll from the domestic fire outbreak at Cantonments, near Susanna Lodge in Accra, has risen to two following the death of a second child.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the elder brother of the two-year-old girl who died in the fire on Sunday, September 20, 2026, has also passed away.
According to the GNFS, the boy died on Monday morning, September 21, at the Bank Hospital, where he was receiving treatment after the incident.
Six people, comprising the father, mother and their four children, were in the building when the fire broke out.
The GNFS said the remaining members of the family are still receiving medical care at the Bank Hospital.
The Service expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and said further updates would be communicated as necessary.
