Minister of Communications and Digital Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has announced plans to begin a television content regulation exercise soon.

This move follows persistent concerns raised by Nigerian filmmaker Bimbo Adeboye, who claims that Ghanaian TV stations have been airing her movies without obtaining the necessary permissions.

Responding to an inquiry by the Film Maker on Instagram, Mr. George stated that the ministry will begin reviewing all television content and verifying the requisite permits before such content is aired. “I would be raising the issue with my colleague Minister responsible for overseeing television content,” he responded.

He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to upholding intellectual property rights and expressed readiness to comply with all relevant ethical standards as Ghana and Nigeria continue to collaborate for mutual benefit.
