Digital content creators have evolved beyond mere storytellers and now serve as educators, influencers, and important contributors to national discourse, according to Bernard Kwesi Odompleh, popularly known as Nene Odompleh.
The Founder and Team Lead of The1957News made the observation in his welcome address at the maiden Digital Media Creators Networking and Capacity Building Conference organised by his outfit on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
“Today, creators are not just storytellers; they are educators, influencers, and key contributors to national discourse,” Nene Odompleh stated.
He noted that while digital platforms have democratised information, this power comes with significant responsibility.
“With this power comes the responsibility to grow, to learn, and to build a community that thrives on professionalism, credibility, and innovation,” he added.
The conference aimed at strengthening the capacity of digital creators and promoting collaboration within Ghana’s digital media ecosystem.
Nene Odompleh, a UniMAC graduate with First Class Honours in Public Relations and Marketing, used the platform to encourage creators to elevate standards and view the event as more than just another gathering.
“Let this not be just another conference you attend, but a turning point in your journey as a digital creator,” he told participants.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Presidential Adviser and Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, is serving as the Special Guest of Honour.
The conference features an impressive array of speakers, including Samuel Nartey George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Deputy Minority Whip, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency, and broadcaster and brand influencer Berla Mundi.
Others on the list are Kwadwo Sheldon, Founder of Kwadwo Sheldon Studios, Osman Ayariga, CEO of the National Youth Authority, Malik Basintale, CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, and Prof. Etse Sikanku, Associate Professor and Dean of the School of Journalism and Media Studies at UniMAC.
Also speaking at the event are Dr. Bright Senanu, Acting Head of Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at UniMAC, Dr. Nii Nookwei Tackie, Programmes Director at the Faculty of Business and Strategic Communication, UniMAC, and Dr. Ike Tandoh, a brands communication, political branding specialist and a Senior Lecturer at UniMAC.
The gathering aims to equip participants with practical tools to thrive in Ghana’s fast-evolving digital media landscape while fostering meaningful connections between content creators and key stakeholders in policy and governance.
The conference is powered by The1957News, Ghana’s trusted source for timely and exclusive reporting on national issues.
