The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched an investigation into an alleged assault on a final-year student of Techiman Senior High School (SHS) by two teachers following the circulation of a video of the incident on social media.

The teachers have been identified as Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe and Adusa Ameyaw, according to a statement issued by GES on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The statement, signed by the Service’s Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, said the school’s disciplinary committee had held an initial hearing into the incident.

The committee is expected to submit its findings to management through the Regional Directorate in the coming days to inform further decisions.

The affected student, identified as Seedorf Abeka Ampah, is a final-year Agricultural Science student at the school.

GES said he had received medical attention and was responding positively to treatment.

The investigation follows the circulation of footage that appears to show the two teachers physically assaulting the student.

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, earlier disclosed that the incident had been referred to the GES for urgent investigation on the instructions of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.

Dr Apaak said the Director-General of GES had been directed to ensure that appropriate sanctions were applied to those found culpable.

GES has appealed to the public to remain calm as investigations continue, adding that the disciplinary committee’s findings will guide management’s next steps.
