Engineers & Planners Limited, the headline sponsor of Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, has disbursed the first installment of US$2 million out of its pledged US$5 million to aid the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The payment was made into a dedicated fund set up for the national team, Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, disclosed at a short presentation ceremony held on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Describing the transfer as a symbolic contribution from the private sector, the Deputy Minister commended Engineers & Planners for honouring its pledge and setting an example for other corporate bodies.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Dzata Group Holdings, the parent company of Engineers & Planners, reaffirmed his commitment and that of the broader business community to supporting national development, particularly in sports.
“This is just the beginning of that support to the country, and as time goes on, we will ensure that we redeem the remaining balance that we have promised,” Mahama stated.
Engineers & Planners had earlier pledged the US$5 million as headline sponsor to boost the Black Stars’ campaign ahead of the expanded 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
