IGP Deploys High-Powered Delegation To Nkoranza To Meet Family Of Suspect Albert Donkor Today

The Inspector General Of Police(IGP), George Akuffu Dampare Has constituted a high-powered delegation led by the Director General Of Police in charge of administration, COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu to meet family of Albert Donkor. A suspected criminal shot and killed during a police anti-robbery operations at Nkoranza in the Bono East Regiont today, May 18, 2022.

The delegation is expected to meet with the family of the deceased and stakeholders to ensure calmness in the area following a public protest against the police shooting of Suspect Albert.

The deployment of delegation comes at the back a telephone call by the IGP to the family of Albert Donkor yesterday, May 17, 2022 assuming them of police investigation into the death of Albert.

Meanwhile the Police Professional Standard Bureau(PPSB) has commenced an investigation to ascertain whether or not the police officers involved in the anti-robbery operations at Nkoranza which led to the death of Sudpect Albert followed the standard operating procedure of the service.

The Ghana Police Service in a communique said following the incessant robbery attacks across the country, the service deployed it’s special anti-robbery task force to robbery prone area in the country since August 2021.

According to the Police Administration, an intelligence-led operation by the anti-robbery task force at Nkoranza led to the shooting of Albert Donkor who was pronounced upon arrival at a health facility for medical attention. The police said Albert is part of a gang of five(5) armed robbers who have committed a series of arm robbery attacks in the Bonon East region including robbery attacks at Nkoranza.
