The Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghanaian Scholars in the Diaspora (GSD) to harness the expertise of Ghanaian postgraduate students abroad for national development.
The agreement, signed on Friday, January 2, 2026, in Accra, aims to channel the specialised knowledge and research of Ghanaian Master’s and PhD students studying in the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, India, Hungary, and China into innovative solutions for the Group’s operations while contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic growth.
The MoU was signed by JGC’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, and leaders of the seven GSD country associations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Siaw Agyepong emphasised that the initiative transcends corporate interests, stating, “This is not just for Jospong; this is for Ghana.”
He assured that the Group would sponsor and facilitate the scholars’ work without direct management and revealed plans to expand it into a national platform, potentially involving other Ghanaian businesses.
Mr. Peter Worlasi Adanu, President of the Ghanaian Students Association in Hungary and Secretary of GSD, expressed gratitude and pledged full commitment to achieving the MoU’s objectives for Ghana’s transformation.
He called on the government and stakeholders to support the initiative.
Mrs. Florence Larbi, Chief Operating Officer of the Environmental Service Cluster at Jospong Group, highlighted that sustainable growth is driven by purpose and innovation, not profit alone.
The partnership is expected to apply academic research practically across Jospong’s diverse sectors, including sanitation, waste management, manufacturing, ICT, and agribusiness.
