Kofi Ofosu Nkansah taken to unknown location by NIB – Lawyer for former NEIP CEO

The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has been moved to an undisclosed location by officers of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), his lawyer has confirmed.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, counsel for Mr. Ofosu Nkansah, disclosed on Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday, February 10, that his client was taken away in a convoy of three pickup vehicles after officers initially searched his residence and later returned with him to the NIB office.

According to the lawyer, the legal team has been unable to obtain any information regarding the new location where Mr. Ofosu Nkansah is being held.

“After the search, they returned to the NIB Office. They told us they are taking him to another place. Now, in the convoy of three pick-ups, they have left the NIB office. Questions as to where they are taking him to, nobody has answered to us,” Baffour Awuah said.

“He is in the company of heavily armed NIB officers. Right now, as the lawyer of Kofi Ofosu I don’t know where my client is,” he added.

The development follows a search conducted earlier in the day at Mr. Ofosu Nkansah’s residence by NIB officers as part of investigations into allegations surrounding the sale of government-funded overseas scholarships.

The lawyer claimed that during the search, the officers were unable to produce a search warrant when challenged by the legal team.

Mr. Ofosu Nkansah had earlier been invited by the NIB to assist with investigations after President John Dramani Mahama directed the intelligence agency to probe the claims.

The former NEIP CEO had made the allegations during a recent radio discussion, asserting that some individuals were paying money to secure scholarships for studies abroad.

The legal team has expressed serious concern over the lack of communication and transparency regarding their client’s detention and location.
