Doctors at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital have begun an industrial action, withdrawing their services over serious concerns about patient safety and professional standards.

In a statement issued by the Korle-Bu Doctors Association (KODA), the group confirmed that the action took effect from Saturday, May 2, 2026.

The association noted that the decision was not taken lightly but had become necessary due to prevailing conditions at the hospital.

“KODA does not take this step lightly. It is taken in the interest of patient safety, professional integrity, and the long-term effectiveness of this institution,” the statement said.

The doctors are therefore calling on the management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to address their concerns with the urgency the situation demands.

“We trust that Management will act with the urgency that these matters demand,” the association added.

The industrial action is expected to affect healthcare delivery at Ghana’s largest referral facility as doctors press for immediate resolution to the issues affecting patient care and safety.
