A delegation from the Law Students’ Network (LSN) has paid a courtesy call on the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as the party prepares to reorganise its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The delegation was led by the Convenor of the LSN, AK Gyasi, and comprised current executives, aspirants for various positions within the Network and other members.
Dr Bawumia was joined at the meeting by some senior members of the NPP, including former Majority and Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and former Lawra Member of Parliament Anthony Abayifaa Karbo.
The engagement focused on strengthening relations between the LSN and the NPP, promoting internal party unity, youth empowerment and strategies for rebuilding the party ahead of the next general election.
Discussions also covered the role of young professionals and tertiary institutions in the party’s mobilisation efforts, with the LSN expressing its readiness to contribute to the NPP’s organisational activities.
Dr Bawumia disclosed that the party had begun work on its next manifesto, drawing lessons from its performance in the 2024 elections to inform the development of policies for the next election cycle.
The former Vice President also indicated that the party would continue to engage young professionals as part of efforts to strengthen its structures and broaden its appeal.
On professional development, Dr Bawumia committed to engaging the NPP’s Legal Directorate on opportunities for pupillage and internship placements for qualified members of the LSN.
The engagement also touched on student welfare, with Dr Bawumia expressing support for the LSN’s scholarship initiative aimed at assisting law students facing financial challenges.
The LSN, in turn, expressed appreciation for Dr Bawumia’s engagement with young professionals and reaffirmed its support for his leadership of the party.
The Network said it would continue to participate in efforts to reorganise and mobilise the NPP as the party seeks to return to government in 2029.
