The Minority Caucus in Parliament on Tuesday, November 3, staged a walkout in protest after Speaker Alban Bagbin ordered the Damongo MP, Samuel Abu Jinapor, to leave the Chamber following a heated exchange over allegations of the sale of Ghanaian diplomatic passports.

The incident occurred during proceedings on the issuance of diplomatic passports, after Mr Abu Jinapor alleged that the documents were being sold for between US$10,000 and US$50,000.

The MP claimed to have evidence to support the allegation and called for an investigation into the practice.

However, Majority Leader James Agalga challenged him to substantiate the claim or withdraw it, prompting Speaker Bagbin to direct him to provide evidence or retract the statement.

The ensuing disagreement resulted in a tense exchange between the Speaker and the Damongo MP.

Speaker Bagbin directed the Parliamentary Marshal to escort him out of the Chamber, citing his failure to comply promptly with the directive.

The Minority subsequently staged a walkout in solidarity with the MP, bringing further tension to proceedings in the House.
