Ofori-Atta fined GH¢5,000 by court in suit against OSP

The Human Rights Court 1 (Accra) on Monday slapped a GH¢5,000 cost on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta after dismissing his application to amend his writ and compel discovery of documents in his ongoing legal challenge against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

According to a report by Opemsuo Radio, the court described the requested documents as unnecessary and held that the application amounted to a waste of judicial time.

Ofori-Atta is contesting his designation as a “wanted person” and the arrest warrant issued against him by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

The former Minister was re-declared a fugitive on June 2, 2025, after he failed to return to Ghana within an agreed timeline to assist investigations into five high-profile cases involving the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited & GRA Contract, the ECG and Beijing Technology Limited Contract Termination, the National Cathedral Project, the Procurement of Ambulances, and GRA’s Tax Refund Account Payments.

While the court awarded the GH¢5,000 costs against Ofori-Atta on November 25, 2025, the substantive ruling on his request to amend the original writ has been adjourned to December 12, 2025.
