One person has died and two others seriously injured following a head-on collision between a Hyundai minivan and a Hyundai truck at the Adansi Akrokerri Junction in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

According to a press release issued by the Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fatal accident occurred around 3:19 p.m. when an Obuasi-bound Hyundai minivan with registration number AS 8655-20 attempted a wrongful overtaking and collided head-on with an oncoming Kumasi-bound Hyundai truck registered AS 3948-24.

Firefighters from the Fomena Fire Station, led by Leading Fireman (LFM) Boateng, responded promptly to the distress call and extricated the trapped driver of the minivan, who had died instantly.

The body was subsequently handed over to the Jacobu District Police for preservation and further investigation.

The two occupants of the truck sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

Both vehicles sustained extensive frontal damage, with the truck veering off the road and landing in a ditch as a result of the impact.
GNFS appealed to motorists to strictly observe road traffic regulations, particularly avoiding dangerous overtaking maneuvers that continue to claim lives on Ghanaian roads.

The Service commended its personnel for their swift response and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through professional emergency interventions.
