The Sakumono District Police Command has detained three individuals in connection with the reported mob killing of a 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, near Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.

According to a police incident report, the Sakumono District Patrol Team responded to an emergency call from an unknown individual on 27 February 2026. The caller reported that a man had been attacked and severely assaulted by a group of angry people near the offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana at Lashibi.

Upon receiving the information, the patrol team proceeded immediately to the scene.

Police officers found a young man, later identified as Austin Tengeeh, lying unconscious with visible marks of assault around his neck and head.

Further investigations revealed that the mob had allegedly misidentified the victim as a thief.

The victim was rushed to the Sakumono Community Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Ghana Police Service has identified and arrested three suspects: Francis Amuzu, 44; William Adison, 36; and Vincent Adzikah, 34.

The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team from the National Police Headquarters has launched a manhunt for other suspects believed to have conspired with the three arrested persons to commit the crime.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that efforts continue to arrest all individuals involved in the incident.
