The Ghana Police Service at Odumase Krobo has rejected an alleged bribe offer of GH¢200,000 from suspects following the discovery and seizure of 105 bundles of suspected counterfeit US dollar notes.
The incident occurred during a police raid at Laasi in Odumase Krobo, where officers uncovered the fake currency concealed in a metal trunk. The bundles, reportedly in $100 denominations and totaling an estimated $1,050,000 in face value, were believed to be part of a counterfeit operation.
According to police sources, one of the three suspects arrested attempted to bribe the officers with GH¢200,000 in a desperate bid to avoid arrest and prosecution. The officers firmly rejected the offer and proceeded to effect the arrests.
The suspects, whose identities have not been publicly disclosed, are currently in custody at the Odumase Krobo Police Station. They are assisting with ongoing investigations as authorities work to trace the source of the counterfeit notes and determine their intended circulation within Ghana or beyond.
The Ghana Police Service commended the integrity of the officers involved, highlighting the rejection of the bribe as a demonstration of professionalism and commitment to combating economic crimes such as currency counterfeiting.
