President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Emelia Afi Agbenyo, Deputy Director for Operations at the Ghana TVET Service, and Dr Joseph Kweku Asamoah, a former Director of Finance at the Electoral Commission (EC), as Deputy Chairpersons of the commission.

Dr Asamoah, who lectures in law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), previously served in several senior positions at the EC, including Director of Finance, Director of the Training Centre and Head of Audit.

The appointments follow recent changes in the commission’s senior leadership. Dr Bossman Asare, who was responsible for Corporate Affairs, resigned from his position effective July 31, 2026, while Samuel Tettey, the former Deputy Chairperson in charge of Operations, retired upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.

The appointments are expected to fill the vacancies arising from these departures and reinforce the commission’s leadership as it continues to discharge its electoral responsibilities.
