President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched a comprehensive Code of Conduct to be strictly adhered to by all individuals appointed under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
The unveiling took place earlier today at the Jubilee House, with government appointees from various sectors in attendance. The President emphasized the importance of ethics and accountability in governance, calling the Code a major step in fulfilling his administration’s pledge to the Ghanaian people.
According to President Mahama, the launch of the Code of Conduct fulfills a key promise he made to Ghanaians in his 120-day contract with Ghanaians a commitment he outlined and published in 2024.
In an address to the assembled appointees, the President stated, “This code represents a bold declaration of the standards we must uphold as servants of the public. It reflects our commitment to build a government that is ethical, responsive, and worthy of the people’s trust.”
He explained that the Code will serve as a guide for ensuring discipline, integrity, and accountability in government operations, ultimately shaping a new political culture in the country.
The President further stressed that the Code applies to every individual appointed under the NDC administration, including himself. He sternly warned that any government appointee found breaching the rules outlined in the document would be subject to disciplinary measures.
“Any government appointee found breaching the rules outlined in this Code of Conduct will be made to render a public apology and will be placed under reprimand, face suspension with due process, or be expected to resign—or ultimately, face termination,” President Mahama warned.
