President Mahama yet to receive petition for removal of Jean Mensa, deputies – Kwakye Ofosu

The Presidency has not yet received the petition seeking the removal of Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Adukwei Mensa and her two deputies, Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu has disclosed.

Speaking on JoyNews on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the Minister and Government Spokesperson said the Secretary to the President, through whom such petitions are normally routed, has not sighted the document.

“The Secretary to the President has not received it yet. I have engaged him personally. Once it gets to him, there is a long-standing process that will be followed, and the public will be duly informed,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu stated.

The petition, filed by interdicted EC staffer Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, accuses Mrs Mensa and her deputies, Bossman Asare and Samuel Tettey, of various infractions and calls for their removal from office.

He emphasised the government’s commitment to transparency, saying the public will be kept informed at every stage once the petition formally reaches the Presidency, just as was done in previous cases.

The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, stressed that the government will strictly adhere to constitutional and legal procedures in handling the matter, adding that no action will be taken outside the dictates of the law.
