Revenue assurance company, Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has sued the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) at the High Court in Accra over the alleged unlawful seizure of its servers and equipment.
Accoroding to a report by myjoyonline.com, the company filed a writ of summons on November 10, 2025, demanding the return of all seized items, special damages of $28,850,125.50, and general damages of GH₵20 million.
The lawsuit follows a search and seizure operation by the OSP at SML’s offices on June 10, 2025.
According to the statement of claim, OSP officers removed 29 pieces of equipment, including seven servers, computers, laptops, and the proprietary SML Nova Mineral Analyzer.
SML, which provides revenue assurance services to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), stated that the seizure caused the “immediate collapse” of its nationwide petroleum and minerals monitoring system.
It said the action disrupted the secure communication chain linking 25 depots to the central data centre, halting real-time data flow.
The company described the seized central server as containing uniquely engineered firmware and software that cannot be replaced with off-the-shelf components.
SML accused the OSP of acting recklessly by physically removing hardware instead of conducting forensic imaging or cloning to preserve business continuity. It further alleged that the OSP deliberately removed CCTV systems during the raid to eliminate evidence of the operation’s conduct.
To restore its services to the GRA, SML said it spent over $28 million to reconstruct its technological environment.
During a recent press conference on its investigation into the contact between GRA and SML, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng accused the company of failing to deliver on the contract terms.
