The President of the Chamber of Digital Assets & Blockchain Innovation (CDABI), Caleb Kwaku Afaglo, has called for a fundamental shift in how Ghanaians view waste and sanitation.
Delivering a keynote address at the launch of Greengo-Hub on Thursday, May 7, 2026, Mr. Afaglo painted a vivid picture of Accra’s gutters after rains and challenged citizens to take responsibility.
“After the rains, our gutters tell a similar and familiar story. They carry plastic bottles, Sasha bags, food wraps… A bag in the gutter is not the only sanitation issue. It is the question about who we are as Ghanaians,” he said.
“Waste is not the end of the value. Waste is the beginning of value. If we have the courage, the technology to claim it,” he added
Mr. Afaglo praised the Greengo-Hub initiative as a practical and innovative response to the country’s long-standing sanitation challenges, urging stakeholders to move beyond complaints and embrace solutions.
The event, which also served as a fundraising drive for the mobile app, brought together government officials, environmental experts, traditional leaders, and private sector players.
Organisers hope the app will not only clean up the environment but also create sustainable incomes and employment opportunities along the circular economy value chain.
