Dozens of leading political figures have arrived at the residence of the late former Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, for the 13th Commemorative Adua in his honour.
The solemn Islamic prayer service, scheduled for Sunday, November 16, 2025, is currently underway at the family’s Cantonments residence.
An array of guests, including family, friends, political leaders and members of the Islamic community, have arrived at the residence to join the Adua.
Some prominent faces captured by the cameras of The 1957News include former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, 2024 presidential running mate of the New Patriotic Party Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and several Members of Parliament, including National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Asutifi South, Alhaji Collins Dauda.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, is scheduled to lead the prayers and deliver a message of reflection and peace.
Alhaji Aliu Mahama served as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana from January 7, 2001, to January 7, 2009, under the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
Until his passing in November 2012, he was widely regarded as a symbol of integrity and patriotism, whose life of service continues to inspire many across the nation.
