The Ghana Police Service has retrieved a Toyota Highlander vehicle believed to have been used in the notorious daylight robbery at a gold jewellery shop in Adabraka, Accra, which occurred in November 2024.
The recovery is part of ongoing investigations into the high-profile case that shocked the nation.
According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Friday, January 16, 2026, the vehicle was recovered from its owner, suspect Abdul Samid Larry, popularly known as “Touch,” at Ashaiman Lebanon on January 15, 2026. The suspect was arrested during the operation, and the Toyota Highlander has been impounded as an exhibit for further investigations.
Larry is currently in lawful custody, assisting police in determining his level of involvement and identifying other individuals connected to the crime.
The Adabraka robbery took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, when four masked and heavily armed men stormed a jewellery shop near the bustling Adabraka market in broad daylight.
The assailants fired shots into the air, creating panic, and made off with GH¢7.5 million in proceeds from a gold transaction that was being transported to a bank. Viral videos captured the scene, showing the robbers loading stolen items, including bags believed to contain money, into a silver vehicle. At least one person was injured by gunfire during the incident.
Investigations have yielded several breakthroughs over the past year. In December 2025, a key suspect, Salim Mohammed, also known as Fariwata, was arrested on November 20, 2025, at a hospital in Ashaiman following intelligence-led surveillance. More recently, two additional suspects, Hamza Agrigo, popularly known as Nene Bawku, and Alhassan Eliasu, also called Arab Man, were apprehended at dawn in Ashaiman, with police recovering firearms, ammunition, bulletproof vests, and other exhibits. The arrests were announced by Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
In recognition of the officers’ efforts, 35 police personnel were promoted on January 15, 2026, for their exceptional professionalism and dedication in operations leading to these arrests.
