Bright Aweh, one of the key suspects in the ongoing murder trial of 38-year-old Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, has reiterated his innocence following a court appearance on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Aweh, along with his co-accused Thomas Zigah, was brought before the Adabraka District Court, where the case was adjourned once again to February 3, 2026, to allow prosecutors additional time for investigations.
As he was being led into a waiting police truck to return to detention, Aweh addressed the media present at the court premises.
“I will pass through this painfully for justice to be served. I am not a murderer; I didn’t kill my friend,” he stated.
Incensed by the suspects statement, some relatives of the deceased present at the court hurled invectives at Aweh.
The suspects face charges of conspiracy to murder and murder. The case, which initially began as a kidnapping investigation, escalated after Amoah’s body was discovered in Abuom, days after he was reported missing.
Police investigations reportedly uncovered incriminating evidence at Aweh’s residence, including a bloodstained camouflage fabric and a fufu pestle wrapped in polythene, leading to the arrests.
The trial has seen several adjournments.
