The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reported a fire outbreak at Madina Zongo Junction in Accra, affecting three shops on the ground floor of a one-storey building.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, with firefighters from the Madina and Legon stations responding promptly to a distress call received at 16:41 GMT.

According to the GNFS, the blaze was brought under control by 17:00 GMT and fully extinguished by 17:25 GMT.

One shop and its contents were completely destroyed in the fire, while the two adjacent shops sustained partial damage. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The Fire Service commended the rapid response, which prevented the flames from spreading to nearby structures, including a forex bureau.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently underway.
