The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced an upward adjustment in the prices of several services related to the Ghana Card, effective immediately, as part of efforts to sustain and enhance service delivery.

In a notice shared on Thursday, January 22, 2026, the NIA outlined that the changes will impact key services, including first-time registration, updates to personal information, card replacement, nationality updates, and non-citizen card registration.

“We wish to respectfully inform the general public that there will be an adjustment in the prices of the following services,” the notice read, listing the affected areas.

The Authority attributed the price hike to the need to maintain operational efficiency and improve the overall quality of services provided to Ghanaians and residents.

“This adjustment is necessary to enable us maintain and improve the quality of services we provide,” it explained.

Although the notice did not specify the new pricing details, the NIA expressed gratitude for public cooperation and urged citizens to support the initiative.

“We appreciate your understanding and continued support,” the statement concluded.

The Ghana Card, a biometric national identity document, serves as proof of citizenship and facilitates access to various public and private services across the country.
