Parliament will resume sittings today, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, marking the commencement of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic at Parliament House in Accra.

The will House officially reconvene at 12:00 noon, bringing an end to the recess that followed the conclusion of the First Session in December 2025. This resumption signals the return of Members of Parliament (MPs) to full legislative duties after the holiday break.

The reconvening was announced by Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in accordance with Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution. An official Constitutional Instrument, dated January 19, 2026, and signed by the Speaker, summoned all MPs to assemble at Parliament House, Accra, at the specified time to transact the business of the House.

The start of the Second Session is a pivotal moment in the parliamentary calendar, with expectations of heightened activity on government business. Lawmakers will focus on critical tasks, including the consideration and passage of pending bills carried over from the previous session, the approval of presidential appointments and international agreements, and the intensification of Parliament’s oversight role over the Executive.

Several key legislative matters are anticipated to dominate proceedings, as MPs exercise their constitutional mandate to address pressing national priorities and ensure accountability in governance.
