The Office of Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, has firmly dissociated itself from circulating social media posters claiming that he intends to contest for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a press statemen issued on Thursday, February 5, 2026, the office described the promotional materials as fake and not originating from Haruna Iddrisu or his team.
“The Office wishes to state unequivocally that these posters did not originate from Hon. Haruna Iddrisu or his office. The public is therefore urged to disregard the posters and treat them with the utmost contempt they deserve,” the statement read.
It emphasized that the Tamale South MP remains committed to his current as he is currently present in Lusaka, Zambia, accompanying President John Dramani Mahama as part of efforts to advance the Reset Ghana agenda, with a particular focus on the education sector entrusted to him by the President.
“Hon. Haruna Iddrisu remains fully focused on his responsibilities as Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South,” the statement added.
This development comes amid occasional speculation within political circles about potential NDC leadership aspirants ahead of future party processes, though no official flagbearership contest has been declared following the party’s recent electoral successes.
