The chiefs and people of Pramkese in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region have finally ended a 20-year vacancy on the Queen Mother’s stool with the enstoolment of Madam Joyce Akyaa as the new Pramkese Hemaa.
Madam Joyce Akyaa, a prominent businesswoman, was enstooled under the stool name Nana Ofosua Aduawonmah III in a colourful traditional ceremony that drew eminent chiefs from the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council and beyond.
The event was presided over by the Chief of Pramkese, Barima Ofori Frempong II, alongside the kingmakers and other traditional authorities. The Adasuasehemaa represented the Okyenhene at the occasion.
Also in attendance were Osabarima Asare Twe II, the Kadehene, and Obaahemaa Obiyaa Gyadum II, the Kadehemaa, among other dignitaries.
Pramkese, which falls under the Benkum and Odau divisions of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, has been without a substantive Queen Mother for two decades. The installation of Nana Ofosua Aduawonmah III marks a historic milestone for the community, restoring full traditional leadership structures.
The new Queen Mother is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing the traditional, cultural, and developmental aspirations of Pramkese and its people. Residents expressed optimism that her leadership, wisdom, and experience as a businesswoman would usher in progress, unity, and prosperity for the town.
The ceremony was marked by rich cultural displays, drumming, dancing, and royal processions, reflecting the significance of the event in Akyem traditions.
