The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has commissioned a new chancery for Ghana’s Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The newly completed chancery was officially commissioned today on Monday, February 16, 2026, which will serve as the diplomatic nerve centre for Ghana in Ethiopia and is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and Ethiopia.

Speaking at the commissioning, President Mahama stated that the chancery represents more than physical infrastructure and is a clear demonstration of Ghana’s firm commitment to the vision of the African Union and to strengthen cooperation with Ethiopia and other African states.

According to President Mahama, the new chancery signals Ghana’s readiness to assume the chairmanship of the African Union next year, a development that could further elevate Ghana’s diplomatic influence across the continent.
