The Government of Ghana has activated an emergency one-way evacuation plan for its citizens in Qatar amid the heightened security situation across the Middle East.
In a release issued on Friday, March 15, 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Doha referred to its earlier notice of March 6, 2026 and announced that the government has decided to undertake the evacuation exercise “in the wake of the heightened security situation in the Region.”
The statement stressed that the arrangement is strictly a one-way evacuation exercise to Ghana.
“Accordingly, Ghanaians in Qatar who wish to be evacuated immediately from Qatar to Ghana are kindly requested to re-confirm their interest by submitting the biodata pages of their passports by email to doha@mfa.gov.gh latest Tuesday, 17th March, 2026,” the release stated.
It further advised that only those who formally reconfirm their interest by the Tuesday deadline will be included in the evacuation arrangement.
The move comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East, which have triggered similar precautionary measures by several governments for their nationals in the Gulf region.
Ghanaians in Qatar requiring further clarification have been directed to contact the embassy for further details.
