The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has underscored the importance of identifying and nurturing young talent through education as his annual quiz competition continues to inspire students in the constituency.

Speaking to the media after students who participated in the competition visited Parliament, Boam explained that the Lord’s Boam Jubilee Quiz Competition, now in its second edition, was designed to unearth hidden talent and promote academic excellence among basic school students in Pru East.

The competition attracted participation from several schools, with winners receiving prizes including laptops and scholarships. The overall winning school, AL-IMAN JHS, received a special prize package, while other schools such as Yeji R/C JHS and Yeji Pentecost JHS were also recognised for their strong performance.

As part of the programme, the participating students were taken on an educational tour of Parliament, where they toured the facilities and observed proceedings. Boam noted that the visit aimed to expose the young scholars to leadership and governance, inspiring them to aspire to higher positions in future.

Beyond the quiz, Boam has implemented several initiatives to support education in the constituency. These include a scholarship scheme for STEM students, donation of computers to schools, organisation of mock examinations, and the establishment of a TVET school in Yeji to provide vocational training opportunities.

He expressed delight at the impact of his scholarship scheme, citing the example of a former beneficiary who is now pursuing a Master’s degree programme. Boam said he is proud to have contributed to the lady’s educational journey, which has enabled her to reach postgraduate level.

The MP reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with traditional leaders, community members, stakeholders, and the District Education Directorate to address challenges in the education sector and improve infrastructure in Pru East.
