Vice President wishes BECE candidates success as 2026 exams begin

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, has extended best wishes to all candidates writing the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In a statement issued by her office on Monday, May 4, 2026, the Vice President expressed confidence that the candidates will deliver their best performance following years of preparation, discipline and hard work.

“Her Excellency the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, on behalf of Government, extends best wishes to all students writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this week,” the statement said.

Prof. Opoku Agyeman encouraged the students to approach the examination with confidence, honesty and determination.

“The Vice President is confident that all candidates will give off their very best after years of effort, discipline and preparation. She encourages all candidates to approach the examination with confidence, honesty and determination,” the statement read.

She also commended the Ghana Education Service, teachers, parents and all stakeholders for their dedicated efforts in preparing the students.

The Vice President further reminded supervisors, invigilators and school authorities to uphold the highest standards of fairness and transparency to ensure the credibility of the examination.

”The Vice President commends the Ghana Education Service, teachers, parents and all stakeholders for their dedicated efforts towards preparing our students while reminding supervisors, invigilators and school authorities to maintain the highest standards of fairness and transparency to ensure a credible process and outcome,” it said.

The statement was signed by Ama Pratt, Spokesperson and Press Secretary to the Vice President.

The 2026 BECE commenced today, Monday, May 4, 2026 and is expected to run until May 11, 2026. A total of 620,141 candidates are expected to sit for the exams.
