Residents of Medie Ketewa in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region are in shock following the alleged murder of a tenant by his landlord over a GH¢30 electricity bill dispute.

The deceased, Opoku Agyemang, a 37-year-old father of three, was reportedly stabbed to death by his landlord, Kofi Koranteng, 50, during an argument over unpaid utility bills.

According to eyewitness accounts, the two men, who were not only landlord and tenant but also good friends and former work colleagues, had a disagreement over how Opoku was settling his electricity payments.

Enoch Idan Danquah, who witnessed the incident, told Onua News that the landlord invited Opoku to his room for discussions regarding the bill. The conversation reportedly turned heated, leading the landlord to allegedly pull out a machete and stab the tenant.

Opoku Agyemang died on the spot from the injuries sustained.

The suspect, Kofi Koranteng, a father of five, fled the scene immediately after the alleged act. The case has since been reported to the police.

Kotoku Police have conveyed the body of the deceased to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination, while efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.

Police have commenced full investigations into the matter.
