Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has assured Parliament that road projects to be funded under the newly approved US$500 million World Bank credit facility will be subjected to strict monitoring to ensure quality execution.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, July 21, the Minister warned that contractors who fail to deliver work that meets the required standards or honour their contractual obligations would face sanctions, stressing that government would not tolerate poor workmanship on projects financed with public funds.

“We are not going to compromise on quality. These projects will be closely monitored, and any contractor who fails to deliver according to the contract specifications will face the necessary sanctions,” Mr Agbodza said.

He explained that the funding will support the rehabilitation of feeder roads and improve farm-to-market connectivity in selected districts, noting that the Ministry is determined to ensure value for money through effective supervision.

“This investment is intended to improve access for farming communities and boost economic activity. We will ensure that every cedi and every dollar invested translates into durable roads that serve the people,” he added.
