The RNAQ Foundation has marked the first anniversary of its flagship RNAQ Food Bank initiative after serving more than 3 million meals to vulnerable individuals and communities over 365 consecutive days.
Launched as a three-branch pilot in Korle Gonno, Kasoa and Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, the initiative has grown into a nationwide social support network aimed at providing consistent access to meals and addressing food insecurity.
The initiative was founded by President of RNAQ Holdings and Founder of the RNAQ Foundation, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, based on his personal experiences growing up in Korle Gonno, where access to daily meals was not always guaranteed.
The RNAQ Food Bank was established with the objective of transforming charity efforts from occasional interventions into a structured and reliable food support system for vulnerable households and individuals.
Over the past year, the foundation has expanded its operations beyond Greater Accra, extending its presence to communities across the Central, Ashanti, Bono East and Northern regions.
A major expansion drive saw the opening of four branches in Kumasi — Bantama, Asafo, Anloga and Alabar — before the network added its 13th branch in Techiman, the agricultural hub of the Bono East Region.
As part of efforts to highlight the impact of the initiative, the foundation also launched a five-part regional documentary series, No One Goes Hungry, alongside a digital campaign showcasing vendor partnerships, supply chain operations and beneficiary experiences.
To commemorate the first anniversary, the foundation has organised activities across all 13 branches to celebrate with beneficiaries and reflect on the journey so far.
The RNAQ Foundation says the milestone demonstrates that a decentralised and sustainable food support system can provide continuous assistance while promoting dignity, consistency and community-driven social impact.
