Joyce Bawah Mogtari urges diaspora women to turn investment into generational wealth

Senior Presidential Advisor to President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has urged Ghanaian women in the diaspora to move beyond remittances and investments towards building enterprises and sustainable generational wealth.

In a Facebook post yesterday, she said the call was central to her participation in the EVE Women’s Forum USA, where she spoke on the theme, “Legacy and Longevity: Women Building Wealth and Health Across the Diaspora.”

Mrs Bawah Mogtari reflected on Ghana’s progress in women’s leadership, including the historic election of the country’s first female Vice President, and stressed the need to translate such progress into lasting economic empowerment.

She called on Ghanaian women abroad to contribute more than financial capital to the country, urging them to bring their knowledge, expertise, networks and global connections to support national development.

According to her, the focus should be on creating businesses and institutions capable of generating value and wealth that can be transferred across generations.

“Let us move from remittances to investment, from investment to enterprise, and from enterprise to generational wealth,” she said.

Mrs Bawah Mogtari added that the next generation should inherit not only the struggles of their predecessors but also “our businesses, institutions, investments and legacy”, describing the forum as a powerful reminder of the importance of building a lasting legacy.
