The1957News has been named “Best Blogger of the Year” at the 7th edition of the Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards (GAEA).
The1957News emerged as the winner of the competitive category at the awards ceremony held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Estees Bee Event Centre in East Legon, Accra, beating other nominees to the award.
The recognition adds to a series of milestones for The1957News, an online media brand established in 2020 by Bernard Kwesi Odompleh. The platform has developed a distinct identity around political and national-affairs reporting while also covering entertainment, business, sports and other areas of public interest.
Over the years, The1957News has established a strong presence in Ghana’s digital media space through breaking news, live coverage and social media-driven reporting. The brand’s coverage has included major political developments, parliamentary proceedings, court cases, government activities and other events of national interest, alongside extensive coverage of the entertainment industry.
The platform’s growing influence has also attracted recognition beyond the GAEA. In 2023, the founder, Bernard Odompleh, was named among Avance Ghana’s Top 50 Ghanaian Bloggers, a recognition of individual contribution to Ghana’s media space. In 2025, President John Dramani Mahama also cited The1957News among online platforms contributing to national discourse and serving as sources for legacy media.
The brand’s work has further extended into academia and professional engagement. In 2026, Odompleh delivered a guest lecture to master’s students of the University of Ghana’s Department of Communication Studies, sharing practical experience in blogging, digital journalism and online publishing.
The “Best Blogger of the Year” award at the 2026 GAEA therefore represents another recognition of The1957News’ work and presence in Ghana’s evolving digital media landscape.
