Manhyia Palace has set December 13, 2025, as the new date for the final funeral rites and burial of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba, after the musician’s sister invoked the Great Oath over the original plans.
The Gyaase Division, sitting at the palace of Nana Saaman Nantwi II, Otumfuo Saamanhene, on November 10, heard Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa accuse the family of foul play and demand a postmortem before burial.
Nananom rebuked the family for bringing public ridicule on the late icon and dissolved the existing Funeral Committee.
Baffour Kantankrankyi, linguist of the Asantehene, announced that any suspicion of foul play falls under police investigation and cannot delay burial indefinitely.
“The police will handle the issue of foul play. We work with the law. If they require more time, they will seek an injunction,” he said.
He added that disputes over which of the musician’s wives may attend the funeral remain before the courts and will not be settled at Manhyia.
The Asantehene pardoned Brempomaa for invoking the Great Oath but cautioned her against repeating the act.
The palace urged the family to unite and accord Daddy Lumba a befitting send-off on the new date.
