The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced the successful reimbursement of academic fees for an additional 20,682 students under President John Dramani Mahama’s flagship “No Fees Stress” policy. This latest disbursement brings the total number of reimbursed students to 60,915 offering a major boost to the President’s commitment to making tertiary education financially accessible to all.

According to SLTF, Thursday, 31st July 2025 has been set as the final deadline for students to submit applications for reimbursement under the policy.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Fund expressed its satisfaction with the progress so far indicating its commitment to equal access and timely support for the Ghanaian student.

“This brings renewed relief to thousands of Ghanaian students and reaffirms our commitment to breaking financial barriers to tertiary education. At SLTF, we remain dedicated to equal access, dignity, and timely support for all beneficiaries.” the post read.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The No Fees Stress portal, launched on April 29, 2025, has so far recorded 151,492 completed applications, out of over 148,000 total visits. Tertiary institutions have submitted enrollment data for 135,255 students, and validations and reimbursements are ongoing to cover all eligible applicants.

This new round of disbursements follows an earlier payment to 40,233 students. SLTF officials described the initiative as historic in scope and efficiency, reflecting a renewed focus by government on tertiary education financing.

At the official launch of the policy, the Executive Director of SLTF, Dr. Afua Shiraz, credited the turnaround in performance to strong government support and improved fund management

“The days where SLTF approved students for loans it could not give is over, and the nonchalance that characterized the shameful failure to meet core mandate obligations are a thing of the past. My appreciation goes to the GETFUND administrator, for prioritizing the President’s tertiary education financing reset agenda, and committing to making available to SLTF the funds that are necessary for us to meet our commitments to students.” she said.

The No Fees Stress policy, introduced under the Mahama administration, aims to alleviate the financial strain on tertiary students by guaranteeing fee reimbursements, enhancing loan disbursement efficiency, and streamlining validation processes across all public institutions.]
