Transgender TikToker and musician Angel Maxine has admitted that her earlier claims linking Assin South Member of Parliament, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, to a romantic or sexual relationship with her were false, explaining that the statements were made as satire and political commentary against the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ bill the MP is championing.
In a response dated Monday, April 27, 2026, addressed to Lawrence L. K. Botchway Jnr. Esq., counsel for Rev. Ntim Fordjour, lawyers from Merton & Everett LLP, acting on behalf of Angel Maxine, stated that their client has taken note of the concerns raised and has issued a public statement clarifying the context and purpose of the videos.
The law firm explained that the comments were intended as satire and political advocacy in the course of opposing the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.
“Our client’s position is that the statements, viewed in their proper context, constitute fair comment on a matter of public interest, namely the implications of legislation sponsored and publicly supported by your client,” the letter stated.
Angel Maxine’s legal team further noted that their client, as a public officer and sponsor of the bill, must expect robust scrutiny and criticism regarding the public consequences of the proposed legislation.
The transgender activist has, however, refused to issue a formal retraction or apology as demanded by Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s legal team.
“For the avoidance of doubt, our client will not be issuing the retraction and apology demanded. She reserves all her rights in this matter,” the letter concluded, signed by Senior Partner Oliver Barker-Vormawor.
The controversy came up Angel Maxine posted videos on social media in which she referred to Rev. Ntim Fordjour as her partner. The Assin South MP, who is a strong supporter of the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, vehemently denied ever meeting or having any relationship with her, describing the claims as politically motivated attempts to tarnish his image and derail the passage of the bill.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour had through his lawyers demanded an immediate retraction and public apology, describing the allegations as defamatory.
