Armed assailants have shot and killed a 68-year-old British national at a drinking spot opposite the Tema Community 9 cemetery on Friday, November 7, 2025.
According to a Graphic report, a police statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, ASP Dede Dzakpasu, said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was in the company of others when the six assailants arrived on two motorbikes.
Two of the suspects approached the group, with one snatching the victim’s mobile phone from the table.
When the victim attempted to retrieve it, one of the attackers shot him. The gang then fled the scene on their motorbikes.
The victim was rushed to Tema General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A 9mm spent shell was recovered from the scene and has been processed for evidential purposes.
Witnesses have been interviewed to aid the ongoing investigations.
The police are also working to contact the British High Commission to formally notify them of the incident.
ASP Dzakpasu assured the public that efforts are underway to arrest the suspects and bring them to justice.
