Rescue operations at the site of a collapsed three-storey building at Avenor in North Kaneshie, Greater Accra Region, have been officially concluded, with authorities confirming that two people died in the incident.

Emergency responders recovered the bodies of the two victims after several hours of intensive search through the rubble. Two other persons were pulled alive from the debris and rushed to hospital for treatment.

The building collapsed on Sunday, June 7, prompting a major emergency response involving personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other security and disaster management agencies.

Rescue teams worked throughout the day on Sunday amid fears that more people could be trapped under the debris. The latest official update confirms the death toll remains at two, while the two survivors continue to receive medical care.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the collapse, as investigations are expected to begin in the coming days.
