Former Vice President and 2028 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has held discussions with the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg.
The meeting took place at the residence of the High Commissioner in Accra on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Dr Bawumia described the engagement as highly productive, noting that discussions focused on the strong partnership between Ghana and the United Kingdom and prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation.
According to him, the meeting highlighted what he described as a solid legacy of partnership and a shared vision for Ghana’s next chapter of development.
In a post on Facebook after the engagement, Dr Bawumia reflected on the role of the UK-Ghana Business Council, which he co-chaired during his tenure as Vice President, in strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
He stated that the strategic collaboration between Ghana and the United Kingdom helped attract significant investments that contributed to the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the country.
Dr Bawumia also expressed appreciation to the British High Commissioner for his remarks regarding efforts to improve the tone of political discourse in Ghana.
“I am particularly grateful to the High Commissioner for his kind words, commending our commitment to elevating the political space by prioritizing robust, policy-driven discussions over the politics of personal attacks,” he wrote.
