Senior Advisor to the 2025 Bawumia Campaign, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has lauded the leadership qualities of New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that they mirror those of President John Dramani Mahama.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face programme with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Mr. Karbo described President Mahama as a gentle and relatable leader who connects deeply with Ghanaians.
He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia displays similar attributes, including humility, calmness, and accessibility, making him an ideal candidate to fulfill the aspirations of the electorate.
Mr. Karbo highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s consistency in messaging across different regions, noting that his approach resonates with voters seeking a composed and attentive president.
“I am very happy with the way the campaign, the messaging, and his consistency have gone. If you listen to Bawumia in Cape Coast and then meet him in Yendi, you will hear the same message,” Mr. Karbo said.
“He’s very consistent. People are beginning to see a consistent presidential candidate, a person who is very knowledgeable, very humble, very calm, who is the type of president Ghanaians are looking for.
“You cannot describe Mahama [President] without talking about the fact that he is indeed a gentle president, and that is the type of mellowness Ghanaians are looking for. People are looking for a candidate who is very accessible, a person who listens. One of the things we have done in opposition as a party is we listen,” he added.
The NPP’s presidential primary ahead of the 2028 general elections is slated to for January 31, 2025.
Dr Bawumia is facing competition from four other candidates including Dr Bryan Acheampong, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
