The Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI) has arrested four individuals linked to Power Distribution Services (PDS) as part of ongoing investigations into the suspected transfer of large sums of money believed to belong to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The suspects identified as Philip Ayensu, Viraj Phat, Sophia Korkor, and Justice Menka-Premoh are said to have been picked up last week and have since been granted bail pending further investigations.

This was disclosed in an update shared on Monday, May 4, 2026, by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

“The quartet have since been given bail pending further investigations,” he wrote.

PDS took over electricity distribution from ECG in 2019 under a concession agreement. The arrangement was later terminated following revelations of irregularities, including issues with payment guarantees.
