A High Court in Accra has ordered the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to release audio recordings of its interrogation of Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah, the prosecution’s second witness in the trial of former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene.
Mr Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, are facing 11 counts including conspiracy, stealing, using public office for profit, money laundering and causing financial loss to the state over the alleged misappropriation of GH₵49.1 million in a cybersecurity equipment deal.
During cross-examination on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Madam Adumuah, the NSB Director of Finance, confirmed to the court that EOCO officers informed her that the interrogation was being recorded.
According to a Daily Guide report, Samuel Atta Akyea, counsel for Mr Adu-Boahene, immediately applied for the audio to be disclosed, arguing it contained statements favourable to the defence.
“The recording will show that the witness said things that go in our favour,” Mr Atta Akyea told the court.
Deputy Attorney General Dr Dominic Srem-Sai opposed the application, citing the Supreme Court ruling, and argued that relevance is key to further disclosure. He also noted the witness only confirmed she was told the session was recorded, not that it actually was.
Mr Atta Akyea countered by invoking Section 2(1)(g) of the practice direction on disclosure, which includes audio recordings as disclosable material. He warned that withholding the recording would amount to concealment of potentially exculpatory evidence.
Presiding Judge Justice Eugene Nyante Nyadu overruled the objection and directed EOCO to file any existing recording as further disclosure by close of day on November 13, 2025.
