The Ohumkan Festival 2025 was officially launched on April 13 by the Akyem Tafo Traditional Council, and it coincides with the 40th anniversary of the enstoolment of the Omanhene of Akyem Tafo, Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV.

This year’s festival will commence with a ban on drumming and noise-making from June 3 to June 17. A week-long celebration will follow, featuring cultural performances, inter-school competitions, health screenings, and a grand durbar on June 21.

The festivities will also include the launch of the Tafoman Development Fund and a series of special events such as a cooking competition, talent shows, a football gala, and a thanksgiving service.

Under Daasebre’s reign, the Akyem Tafo Traditional Area has seen significant progress through initiatives such as the Akyem Tafo Educational Fund, annual health screenings, construction of CHPS compounds, and the ongoing development of a multipurpose community resource centre.
His commitment to environmental sustainability and excellence in agriculture has garnered international acclaim, including the prestigious Best Cocoa Flavor Award from the International Cocoa Awards in France in 2015.
