A soldier with the Ghana Armed Forces has died after a blast occurred during a counter-terrorism training exercise at Binduri in the Upper East Region.
The deceased has been identified as Private Adotey, a Physical Training Instructor at the 6 Infantry Battalion.
The fatal blast happened during operations under Exercise Storm Shield, a 10-day military exercise conducted across Bawku, Pusiga and Binduri to sharpen troops’ readiness in countering terrorism and violent extremism.
The Ghana Armed Forces concluded the exercise, with the closing ceremony held at the 11 Mechanised Battalion in Bazua. The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, disclosed the incident at the ceremony.
The exercise formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and better equip personnel with the necessary skills and mindset to tackle emerging security threats in the country.
